The marriage between Rajnikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya and Aswin took place in the morning at Ran Meiyammai Hall in Chennai. The marriage ceremony began at 6 a m. The marriage couple was seated in the stage. Soundarya was wearing a vermilion color silk saree and a green blouse.
Aswin was wearing a silk dhoti and a silk shawl. The pundits lit the sacred fire and were chanting the Vedas. Rajni was seated there. Soundarya was seated in his laps and exactly at 8 a m Aswin tied the Thali.
The marriage chants were chanted. People who had attended the marriage blessed the couple. The couple prostrated before Rajni and his wife Latha and sought their blessings. Then Rajni brought the couple before the people.
The couple also prostrated before Home Minister P Chidambaram, producer R M Veerappan, director K Balachandar and Telugu director Raghavendra Rao and sought their blessings. Rajni was wearing a turban for some time as per the marriage tradition. The rituals like Treading on the Grindstone and Arundhathi and Dhruva Star were performed.
Tamil Nadu Congress president Thangabalu, MDMK general secretary Vai Ko , New Justice Party president A C Shanmugam, BJP president Ela Ganeshan, DMDK president Vijayakanth, Vidudhalai Siruthaigal Party president Thirumalavan , Indian Communist Party Tha Pandian, Nallu Kannu and Samathuva Makkal Party president Sarath Kumar have attended the marriage and blessed the couple.
Actors Shivakumar, Prabhu, Bhagyaraj, Telugu actors Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh had also attended the marriage. Actress Sridevi along with her husband Boney Kapoor also attended the marriage. Meena along with her husband Vidhyasagar was present. The others who attended the marriage was Karthi Chidambaram, Ex Deputy Mayor Karate Thyagarajan, Thirunavakarasu, director Manirathnam, Vairamuthu, producers Pushpa Kandasamy, Sathya Jyothi Thyagarajan, Kalaipuli Dhanu, Ram Kumar, actors Suman, Chinni Jayanth, writer Lena Tamilvaanan, Suhasini, P Vasu, Rajni Fan Club personalities Sathyanarayanan and Ashok. Rajni’s brother Sathyanarayanan and his other family members were present in the marriage.
